High School Credit Policy
College Courses
--college courses will transfer as one semester credit for each semester of college credit
--college courses which are approved by administration will be listed as an honors course and will be based on a 5.0 GPA scale. This will not happen with all courses from KPC. Sample Honors courses from KPC: Physics and Calculus
--no college courses will be added to transcripts without a grade report from the college
--college course determinations and acceptance are at the discretion of CIA administration
--college courses will count toward the required 5 credit minimum for 9-11th graders and 4 credit minimum for seniors
--It must be remembered though, that students getting below a 69% for a semester grade will not receive credit for the course regardless of letter grade from college.
Transfer of Credit From Other Secondary Schools and Independent Study
--all transfer credits will be placed in the subject area determined by administration
--transfer of credits of less than a one semester credit (0.5 credits) will not be accepted except under certain circumstances (i.e. several .25 credits in elective courses may be put together to total .5 credits, 1.0 credits, etc.)
--independent study programs taken by currently enrolled CIA students must be approved by administration prior to beginning the course and prior to the beginning of the semester with approval by administration.
